Industry leaders Chuck Carey and Robert Blatchford have come together to launch Compadre, a creative marketing agency. Using strategy, design, storytelling, and technology, Compadre’s mission is to grow audiences, spark conversations, shape brands, and impact culture.
“There are new ways for people to interact with brands every day, so our approach evolves with every project and every client,” says Blatchford. “But at our core, we’re specialists in building a brand’s story, and telling that story how and where people can fall in love with it.”
The name, Compadre, represents the shorthand Carey and Blatchford have built throughout their professional relationship, as well as their passion for bringing a collaborative process to client partnerships. Compadre is also a representation of unifying elements of the strategic and creative process that are traditionally separated: positioning with creative exploration, insights with intuition, technology with storytelling.
“I’m excited about the wide-ranging talent of our team at Compadre — and we have more announcements coming soon,” says Carey. “It’s been really fun to bring together so many experts that are creating compelling brand strategies, narratives, and experiences.”
Carey and Blatchford, who previously worked together at brand consultancy Troika, act as Co-Presidents. They lead a team of accomplished creatives, strategists, writers, designers, directors, producers, and all-around great people. Compadre has been built as an agency that offers a friendly, unpretentious work environment that encourages staff to feed their creative curiosity.
Prior to launching Compadre, Carey served as EVP/Managing Director at entertainment marketing agency mOcean, where he led the business’s television, streaming, graphics, and key art units. Before that, Carey served as President/Partner of Troika for 12 years.
Blatchford is a leading business strategist who previously served as Partner/Chief Development Officer at creative branding agency Loyalkaspar, and led business development at Troika, where he repositioned the company from design shop to entertainment branding agency.
Compadre is currently in production on their first wave of assignments: a brand repositioning, a pro-social campaign, a brand identity, and a messaging strategy. They recently launched Freeform’s latest brand campaign, a breakup letter to society built around the creative concept, “It’s Not Us, It’s You.”
