By thelaegotist / / We recently sat down for our famous LAE Q&A with LA native, award-winning creative director and graphic designer, Jason Cook. He’s spent more than 10 years working for some of the top design companies in the advertising industry. For the past two years, he has been freelancing as a creative director/director for a number of companies. Prior to that, he spent three years as a creative director for the LA office of Superfad, contributing to campaigns for the likes of Coca-Cola, Pella Windows and Visa Olympics while directing spots for Fiat, THQ and League of Legends on the Mac, which he also wrote. WHAT DOES LA MEAN TO YOU? Well, I am one of the few people in this town that is actually from here. I grew up a bit north of LA but really this is home to me. LA is a vibrant city with incredible art, culture and food. The weather is great and I love the fact that we are driving distance to different types of beautiful environments. This place has it all man. HOW DID YOU WIND UP HERE? I grew up in So Cal. I went to art school at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena and right after school I moved to Hollywood. I haven’t left. WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT THE ADVERTISING INDUSTRY (HERE IN LA, OR IN GENERAL)? We’ve got some great agencies here in LA that are doing some outstanding creative. I love that even though LA is a giant city, when our industry gets together for events and showcases, it feels like a small community. There’s a lot of respect and support for great work here. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PERSONAL PROJECT FROM THE PAST YEAR? My favorite projects are usually the ones that are the most challenging. I directed a fully CG spot for the Ford Raptor this year that I am definitely proud of.Tacos Por Favor! Good thing that place is so awesome. Breakfast burritos!
